River Rafting California's Lower Klamath River

River rafting California begins on our Happy Camp trip

Class III rapids require trips limited to children ages 6 and older
Season: May through October

River rafting California begins on the lower Klamath River near the sleepy rural community of Happy Camp. By far, this section of the river is the most traveled of the entire Klamath River. Our fun-filled adventure will bring you face-to-face with Class II (fun) and Class III (moderate) rapids, and we’ll even throw in one Class IV (exciting) rapid named Dragon’s Tooth just to keep things interesting.

Between rapids, you will have time to swim in the Klamath River’s refreshing water, or just lie back and soak up the warm summer sunshine as it melts your cares away. Following lunch on the last day of your trip, you can choose to take a 40-minute hike up Ukonom Creek to view the breathtaking Ukonom twin falls. At the falls, you can either swim in the cool, crystal-clear water or relax and let the mist slowly caress your face. As an added feature, we also offer the free use of our inflatable kayaks.

Once you have received thorough instruction from our guide in basic kayak operation, you will be on your way to seeing the river and its rapids from an entirely different perspective. If you are looking for a river rafting adventure that offers fun rapids as well as a chance to relax and unwind, this trip is made to order for beginners and experienced rafters alike. Two-day adventures include 19.5 river miles. Three-day adventures river rafting California's Lower Klamath include 29 river miles, while four-day adventures cover 41.5 river miles.
